Held in the Silent Waiting
The afternoon stretches out, a long gray corridor where the minutes refuse to move. You check your phone again.
Three minutes since the last time. The screen lights up, but the name you need is not there.
Your thumb hovers over it, trembling, caught between the desperate need to know they are okay and the paralyzing fear that your text might be the thing that pushes them away. You are living in the middle of a silence that feels like rejection.
But listen — the light does not wait for you to say the perfect thing. It is already in the room, sitting in the quiet with you.
It is not offended by your hesitation. It knows the ache of wanting to reach out and being too afraid to try.
You do not have to send the message to be held. The connection exists before the words are typed.
The light is not waiting for your performance. It is simply present, right here in the stalled moment, loving you through the silence.
