living with a disability in a world not built for you

You Are Where Light Learns to Kneel

The afternoon stretches out, a long, flat road that feels built for legs that do not limp and hands that do not shake. You move through a world of stairs and narrow doorways, a geometry that seems designed to exclude the very shape of your body.

It is exhausting to be constantly asked to apologize for taking up space, for moving slower, for needing the ramp instead of the step. But the light does not require you to climb to prove you belong.

There was a man lying beside a pool for thirty-eight years, waiting for the water to stir, convinced he needed to be faster than everyone else to be healed. The light walked straight to him—not the ones who made it in first, but the one who had been left behind.

It did not help him into the water. It told him to stand up right where he was.

The barrier was not your body. The barrier was the belief that you had to be different to be seen.

You are not a mistake in the design. You are the place where the light learns to kneel.
