The Father Ran Before The Apology
The afternoon stretches out, a long, flat road where the mind has nothing to do but turn back and inspect the dust. You are replaying the exact tone of your voice when you said, 'I'm here.' Was it pity?
Did it sound like you were looking down? The question loops, sharp and relentless, in the middle of the day.
But the light does not analyze your tone. It only sees that you showed up.
There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off. He did not wait to hear the speech.
He did not critique the tremor in the boy's voice or the shame in his posture. He ran.
Before the apology, before the explanation — he ran. The light is not listening for perfection.
It is listening for presence. You said the words.
You were there. That is enough.
The doubt is just the heat of the day playing tricks on your ears. Close your eyes.
The love is already inside you, untouched by how you sounded.
