re-reading the last message they sent you and hating yourself for the specific lie you told in reply

The Light Knows You Before The Lie

The afternoon light is unforgiving when it hits the screen, illuminating the words you typed an hour ago. You read the lie again, the one you told to protect yourself, and the shame burns hotter than the sun outside.

You feel like a fraud, convinced that the truth has disqualified you from the light. But listen — the light does not recoil from your dishonesty.

It sees you. Before you even sent that message, before the lie took shape in your mind, the light already knew you were there.

It saw Nathanael under the fig tree, hiding his skepticism, and called him friend anyway. You do not have to rewrite the text to be loved.

The lie is a wall you built, but the light is already on the other side, waiting for you to put the phone down and breathe. You are not your performance.

You are the truth waiting to be spoken.
