the crushing weight of pretending your faith is intact while your soul is screaming

You Are Already Held Beneath The Mask

The afternoon light is harsh, exposing every crack in the mask you wear to get through the day. You smile at the right moments, you nod when others speak of hope, but inside your soul is screaming under the weight of the pretense.

It feels like you are holding up a collapsing roof with bare hands, terrified that if you stop performing, everything will fall apart. But listen — the light does not need your performance to stay alive.

It was there before you put the mask on, and it is still there beneath the exhaustion. In the middle of this long, wearying day, you do not have to pretend to be whole to be held.

The One who knows your name is not fooled by the smile, and He is not waiting for you to fix yourself before He comes in. You are not a project to be completed; you are a friend who is already loved.

The light is not impressed by your stamina; it is present in your fatigue.
