Held Even With the Door Ajar
The afternoon is long, and the mind wanders back to that split second of exposure — the door unlatched, the guard down, the sudden heat of knowing you were visible when you meant to be hidden. It feels like a failure of vigilance, a crack in the armor you wear to get through the middle of the day.
But the light does not scold you for the open door. It does not demand you lock it tighter next time.
It simply steps into the room where you felt most vulnerable and sits with you there. The shame says you should have been more careful.
The truth says you were never alone in that moment, even when you felt most exposed. The light was already inside the room, holding the space where you were helpless.
You do not have to rebuild the walls to be safe. You are held even with the door ajar.
