the moment you catch yourself apologizing for needing to sit down

Holy Rest Without Apology

It happens in the middle of the afternoon, right when the weight of the day finally catches up to your legs. You start to lower yourself into the chair, and before you even sit, you hear yourself saying 'sorry.' Sorry for needing to stop.

Sorry for taking up space. Sorry for being human in a world that demands you keep moving.

But the light does not ask you to stand when your knees are shaking. It sees the exhaustion and calls it holy.

There is a quiet room inside you where no one is keeping score of your productivity. In that room, you do not have to apologize for resting.

The light is not disappointed by your need to sit down; it is waiting for you there. You are not failing because you are tired.

You are remembering that you were made to be held, not to carry everything forever.
