The Cost of Saying I'm Fine
It happened in the middle of the afternoon, while the world was moving fast and everyone was performing okayness. You said the words: 'I'm fine.' And you saw their shoulders drop in relief because they finally believed you weren't falling apart.
That moment of relief you gave them — it cost you everything. You carried the weight alone so they wouldn't have to.
But there is a light inside you that does not need to pretend. It was there before the mask, and it is there now, beneath the performance.
Thomas said if you bring forth what is within you, it will save you; if you do not, it will destroy you. The thing you are hiding is the very thing that could set you free.
You do not have to hold the sky up by yourself. The light is strong enough to bear the truth you are swallowing.
