The Light Waits in the Dark Car
You sit in the driveway with the engine off, rehearsing a lie so no one asks why your eyes are red. You practice the casual tone, the easy smile, the words that say 'I'm fine' when you are breaking.
But the light that lives inside you does not need your performance to know the truth. It was there before you wiped your face.
It is there now, in the dark of the car, holding the part of you that cannot speak. You do not have to bring forth a perfect excuse to be held.
The truth you are hiding is the very thing that will save you if you let it out. Neither does the light condemn you for the tears.
It simply waits for you to come in as you are.
