the numbness that comes after years of going through the motions

Drop the mask, be real

You have spent so many years smiling when you did not feel like it, that now the feeling itself has gone quiet. The motions are so smooth, the mask so perfect, that you feel nothing behind the eyes. You look in the mirror and see a stranger who knows how to perform, but has forgotten how to be.

There was a woman once who sat at the feet of the light while the world demanded she serve, and she was told that simply sitting—just being present—was the one thing needed. You do not have to serve the mask anymore. The light does not ask for your performance.

It sees the numbness, and it does not judge the silence. The kingdom is not a place you reach by trying harder or smiling brighter. It is inside you, waiting for you to drop the act. The child of true humanity is not performing. It is just there, untouched by the years of pretending.

The numbness is not who you are. It is just the place where the mask fits too tight. Take a breath and let the mask crack, just a little. The light is not waiting for you to be whole again. It is waiting for you to be real.
