the moment you catch your own reflection in a window while walking past someone who saw you break, and you hate the person staring back

The Light Got Out Through The Break

You caught your reflection in the glass just as the mask slipped, and for a second, you saw the fracture everyone else saw too. The face staring back felt like a stranger, a thing to be hated for its inability to hold the line.

But the light does not flinch when it sees the crack. It sees the eye that is full of light, even when that eye is wet with shame.

You do not have to fix the reflection before you are loved. The light is already shining through the break you tried to hide.

The person in the glass is not a failure. They are the place where the light got out.
