You Do Not Have To Hold Your Breath
You are holding your breath so the person beside you won't know you are awake. You have become a statue in the dark, terrified that the sound of your own breathing will betray the storm inside your chest.
But the light does not need you to be quiet to be near you. It saw the widow give her last two coins in secret, when no one was watching and no applause was possible.
Your Father sees what is done in secret. He is not waiting for you to perform sleep.
He is present in the pretending. You do not have to hold your breath to be held.
The light breathes with you even when you are still.
