the loneliness of chronic illness

Light Resting in Your Stillness

There is a loneliness that settles in the bones when the body refuses to move, a silence that feels heavier than the walls around you. In this long middle of the day, when the world rushes on and you are still, it can feel like you have been forgotten in the quiet.

But the light does not disappear just because you are tired; it waits with you in the stillness, present even when you cannot feel it moving. Luke 4:18 says the light was sent to heal the broken and set the oppressed free—not after they are whole, but right now, in the midst of the pain.

You are not a burden to the light; you are the very place it is resting. The light is not waiting for you to get better—it is holding you while you are sick.

And in this holding, you are never, ever alone.
