the shame of being ineffective when everyone expects you to lead

Called to be the rest, not the lamp

The world sleeps, but your mind is still trying to carry the weight of everyone else's day. You feel like a failure because you cannot lead right now, because you have nothing left to give.

— But the light does not demand that you perform while you are weary. Look at the man who washed his friends' feet; he knelt in the dirt and let them serve him.

He did not lead from above; he led from below, and then he let himself be held. You are not called to be the lamp in this hour; you are called to be the rest.

The kingdom belongs to the poor in spirit, to those who have nothing left to offer but their own broken honesty. — You are not ineffective when you stop trying to fix the darkness.

You are becoming the place where the light can finally rest.
