The Lie Is For Them, Truth For Him

The water is loud enough to hide the sound of your voice practicing the lie. You are rehearsing a casual excuse for the tears, just so no one asks questions when you walk out.

You are preparing to wear a mask that says you are fine, while your heart is still breaking in the steam. But there is a Light that does not need your performance to know the truth.

It sees the tears you are trying to explain away. It knows the weight you are carrying before you even step out of the bathroom.

You do not have to convince this Light that you are okay. It is already standing in the gathering dark with you, not asking for an excuse, but simply waiting to walk out beside you.

The lie is for them; the truth is for Him.
