Light That Knows Your Silence
The water is hot, but your chest is burning from the inside. You press your palm hard against your sternum, trying to physically hold your heart still while the memory of your silence replays on a loop. That moment when you should have spoken, when you should have said no, or yes, or stop — but you didn't. Now the shame feels like a physical weight, crushing the breath out of you in the steam.
But listen — the light does not condemn you for the words you didn't say. It knows the fear that froze your tongue. It knows the exact second your courage failed, and it does not turn away. There is a peace waiting for you that does not require you to go back and fix the past. A peace that sits with you right here, in the shaking, in the regret, in the wet silence of this bathroom.
You are not defined by the moment you stayed quiet. You are defined by the light that is still beating inside you, refusing to let the shame stop your heart for good. The water will cool down. The racing will slow. And you will step out, not because you fixed everything, but because the light is still here.
