The Light Lives Inside You Still
The sun is up. The light is hitting the floorboards just like it did yesterday.
You felt a small joy this morning—a bird at the window, the steam from your cup—and your hand reached for the phone before you even thought about it. Muscle memory.
The old habit of sharing the good thing. Then you remembered.
The name is still there. The number still works.
But the person who made that connection matter is gone. The silence in the room feels heavier now than it did in the dark.
It is a specific kind of loneliness, this morning light that reveals an empty chair. But listen — the joy you felt was real.
It did not vanish because there was no one to tell. The light that sparked that joy is not dependent on an audience.
It lives inside you. It was there before the call could be made, and it remains now that the phone is back on the table.
You are not just the one who lost the listener. You are the one who still sees the bird.
You are the one who still feels the warmth. The light does not need to be sent to be real.
It only needs to be witnessed. And you are still here to witness it.
