the phantom sensation of the stain returning hours after you have changed and showered, making you convinced everyone can still smell your failure

The Dawn Does Not Judge Your Past

The sun is up, but you are still convinced the smell of last night clings to you. You scrubbed.

You changed. You did everything right.

Yet the phantom scent of your failure follows you into the morning light, whispering that everyone can see what you did. The woman who washed feet with her tears knew this feeling — the shame that outlasts the soap.

But the light looked at her and said: your many sins are forgiven, for your great love has shown. The scent you fear is a ghost.

It is a memory trying to pass itself off as reality. Go home to your own people, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.

The dawn is not judging your past; it is illuminating your present. You are not the stain.

You are the light that burned it away.
