The Light Runs Before You Speak
The sun is up, but you are still inside the room where you said the thing you can't take back. You are rehearsing the apology you know you will never say, because words cannot fix the look in their eyes.
That look feels like a wall you cannot climb. But the light has already risen, and it does not wait for your speech to begin.
There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off. He ran.
Before the apology, before the speech — he ran. The light runs toward you while you are still choking on the words.
It sees the shame and does not turn away. You do not have to fix the look to be held.
The dawn breaks whether you have made it right or not. Carry the weight into the morning, but know you are not carrying it alone.
