the paralyzing fear that making amends will only remind them of how long you were gone

The Light Does Not Measure Your Absence

The sun is up, but the shadow of your absence still feels longer than the light. You are afraid that showing your face will only prove how much time you wasted, how far you wandered, how long you were gone.

But listen — the light does not measure the length of your absence. It only measures the truth of your return.

There was a woman who came with nothing but tears and perfume, her past known by everyone in the room, and the voice she feared most said only: 'Your great love shows that you have been forgiven much.' The clock on the wall cannot undo the years, but it cannot stop the morning either. The sun rose anyway.

The light is not waiting for you to explain the missing time. It is waiting for you to step into the now.

You do not have to carry the years you lost; you only have to carry the love you have left.
