the secret terror that if they saw the messy, unedited version of you, the love would instantly evaporate

Light Falls on the Dust

The sun is up, and you are already working so hard to keep the mask from slipping. You are terrified that if anyone saw the messy, unedited version of you—the raw, unpolished truth of this morning—the love would instantly evaporate.

But look at the light coming through the window. It does not wait for the house to be clean before it shines.

It falls on the dust, the clutter, the unmade bed, and it calls it all good. The Father saw you while you were still a long way off, covered in the filth of the road, and He ran.

He did not run to the version of you that had cleaned up. He ran to the one who was broken.

You do not have to hide the mess for the light to find you. The light sees the whole truth and loves you more for it.

The dawn does not demand perfection; it only asks that you let it in.
