the shame of rehearsing apologies for failures your child never witnessed

The Sun Does Not Wait For Permission

The sun is up, and with it comes the inventory of yesterday's failures. You are rehearsing apologies for moments your child never saw, for the silence they didn't notice, for the anger that stayed inside you while they slept.

But the light has already arrived, and it does not bring a ledger of your private wars. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.

He ran. Before the apology, before the speech—he ran.

The dawn is not asking you to fix what happened in the dark. It is asking you to receive the day as a gift you did not earn.

The light that rose this morning is the same light that lives inside you, untouched by your shame. You do not need to clean yourself up before you can stand in it.

The night is over. The sun does not wait for your permission to shine.
