You Are Not an Expense to Be Managed
The sun is up, and with it comes the quiet math you do in your head. You weigh your grief against the people who love you, calculating exactly how much your sadness costs them.
You tell yourself that if you could just be lighter, if you could just stop being such a burden, they would be free. But listen to the morning.
The light does not check the price tag before it shines. It rises without asking if the world can afford it.
It simply arrives. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, broken and ashamed, rehearsing a speech about how much he had cost the family.
Before the apology could finish, before the debt could be calculated, the father ran. He did not run to collect what was owed.
He ran to embrace what was lost. Your grief is not a debt your loved ones are paying.
It is simply the place where the light finds you this morning. You are not an expense to be managed.
You are the very reason the light woke up today.
