relapsing and the shame that follows

The Light Runs Into Your Mess

The sun is up, and the shame of last night feels heavier than the dark ever was. You promised yourself this morning would be different, and now you are standing in the wreckage of a promise you couldn't keep.

But look at the light coming through the window. It did not wait for you to get it right before it arrived.

It came anyway. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — dirty, defeated, rehearsing an apology — and before the speech could even start, the father ran.

He did not wait for the cleanup. He ran to the mess.

The light does the same thing this morning. It is already running toward you, not away from your failure but straight into it.

You do not have to earn the dawn. You just have to step into it.
