The Light That Sees Your Empty Cupboard
The sun is up, and the house is moving, but you are standing still in front of the empty cupboard. You have become an expert at arranging the shelves so they look full, hiding the scarcity behind a few remaining cans.
The morning light does not scold you for the empty space. It simply fills the kitchen, touching the dust on the counter and the worry on your face with the same gentle warmth.
There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — hungry, ashamed, rehearsing a speech about unworthiness. He did not wait for the apology.
He ran. Before the explanation, before the excuse — he ran.
The light sees the empty pantry, and it does not turn away. It sees the performance of having enough, and it loves the person behind the mask more than the mask itself.
You do not have to hold the weight of the hunger alone today. The dawn has broken, and with it comes a mercy that is pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
You are fed before you even ask.
