trying to explain what happened to you and watching people minimize it

The Light That Runs to Meet You

The sun is setting, and the armor you wore all day finally feels heavy enough to drop. You tried to tell someone what happened to you, to explain the weight you are carrying, and they minimized it.

They made your pain small so they wouldn't have to feel its size. But listen — the light does not minimize.

It does not look at your story and say 'it's not that bad.' The light sees the whole truth. There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, still covered in the filth of his failure.

He did not wait for the speech. He did not critique the journey.

He ran. Before the apology, before the explanation — he ran.

Your pain does not need to be justified to be real. You do not have to make it smaller to fit into someone else's comfort.

The light that lives inside you already knows exactly what you endured. It witnessed every moment.

It held you when no one else would. You can put the defense down now.

You don't have to convince anyone tonight. The truth of your suffering is already held in the hands that ran to meet you.
