The Dawn Does Not Scold Your Darkness
The sun is rising, and with it comes the heavy recall of that moment you chose the lie. You saw the relief flood their eyes, a temporary shelter you built with your silence.
You know that if the truth ever breaks surface, that relief will curdle into horror. But the dawn does not scold the night for its darkness; it simply arrives to fill the space anyway.
The light that is now touching your window is the same light that was present when you spoke the falsehood, and it was not extinguished by your fear. It does not demand you confess before it shines.
It shines so you can finally stop holding your breath. The lie was a wall you built to protect them, but the morning is an open door standing right in front of you.
You do not have to carry the weight of their potential horror into this new day. The light sees the secret, and it sees you, and it calls both of them by name without flinching.
