rehearsing a voicemail greeting for a parent you haven't told you moved yet because you're afraid they'll hear the emptiness in your voice

Light Enters the Empty Room First

The sun is just breaking the horizon, painting the sky in colors that don't ask for your permission to exist. You are standing there with your phone, rehearsing a voicemail for a parent who doesn't know you've moved yet.

You are afraid that if you speak, they will hear the emptiness in your voice—the hollow echo of a room you haven't filled yet. But the light that rose this morning does not wait for the house to be furnished before it shines through the window.

It enters the empty space first. It fills the silence before you say a word.

The Father's love is not looking for a perfect greeting; it is already sitting in the quiet with you, waiting for you to realize that the emptiness is not a void, but a vessel. You do not have to sound full to be held.

Just press send. The light travels through the wire before the voice does.
