The Light Inside the Silence
The sun is dropping, and the house is finally quiet enough for the fear to speak. You are sitting with the phone in your hand, rehearsing the words you have to say to your mother.
You can already hear the silence on the other end—the heavy, crushing quiet that feels like a verdict. You are bracing for the impact of her stillness.
But there is a light inside you that does not flinch at silence. It knows how to sit in the dark without panicking.
It knows that love does not always need sound to be real. The Father's light was already in that future conversation before you dialed.
It was there before the diagnosis, and it will be there when the line goes dead. You do not have to carry the weight of her reaction tonight.
Just breathe. The light is sufficient for the call, and it is sufficient for the silence that follows.
