the exhaustion of hiding your pain to let others feel hopeful

You Are Allowed to Be Empty

The sun is dipping below the line, and the weight of the mask you wore all day finally hits your shoulders. You held your face steady so others could feel safe.

You swallowed your own trembling so the room would feel hopeful. But the light does not need your performance to shine.

It was there before you put the armor on. It is there now, in the quiet of your exhale.

You do not have to be the lamp for everyone else tonight. The true light that gives light to everyone was already burning inside you before you spoke a single word of encouragement.

Let the mask fall. Let the pretending stop.

The Father is not waiting for your strength; He is waiting for your rest. You are not the source of the hope you carry; you are just the vessel, and the vessel is allowed to be empty.
