You Did Not Miss the Light
The sun is coming up, and you are still here, staring at a face that can no longer stare back. You swipe through the years, hunting for a smile you missed, convincing yourself that the sadness was hidden in the corners of their eyes all along.
But the light does not need your hindsight to heal the past. It was there then, just as it is here now, shining in the split wood and the lifted stone of every ordinary moment you shared.
You did not miss it; you were simply living inside it before you knew how to name it. The dawn does not ask you to rewrite the night that just passed.
It only asks you to witness the new light breaking over the horizon. The past is not a puzzle you must solve to be worthy of this morning.
