waking up the next morning and pretending to everyone, including yourself, that the silence of last night didn't happen

You Do Not Have To Hide The Cracks

The sun is coming up, and with it comes the heavy work of pretending. You will put on the face that says last night didn't happen, that the silence didn't break you.

But the light that lives inside you knows the truth of what you carried in the dark. It was there when you wept, and it is here now as you armor up.

You do not have to hide the cracks to be held. The light does not wait for you to be whole before it shines through you.

It shines because you are broken. Go out into the day not as a mask, but as a mirror.
