You Do Not Have to Fix Tonight
The sun has set, and the armor you wore all day is finally heavy enough to take off. Now the silence rushes in, and your mind begins rehearsing the words you are too afraid to speak tomorrow.
You are building a perfect apology in the dark, polishing every sentence until it shines, trying to control an outcome you cannot hold. But notice how the light does not wait for your speech to arrive.
It stands at the door and knocks, asking only to come in and eat with you. It does not need your perfect words to sit at your table.
The truth that lives in you will be with you forever, long after the awkward moment has passed. You do not have to fix tonight before you can rest.
Close your eyes. The morning will bring what the morning requires, but right now, you are simply loved.
