the paralyzing fear that resting for even an hour means you have lost your permission to be loved

Rest Is Not Losing Your Place

The sun has gone down, and the inventory of the day begins to weigh on you. You feel that if you stop moving, if you close your eyes for even an hour, you will lose your place in the light.

That rest is a luxury you cannot afford, and that love is a wage you must earn by staying awake. But the light does not operate on your schedule.

It does not dim when you lie down. There is a peace that is not like the world's peace—a stillness that exists even while the storm rages outside.

You do not have to hold the world up tonight. The Father's house has many rooms, and one of them is prepared for your sleep.

A place where you are not a worker, but a child who is simply held. The love was secured before you took your first breath, and it will not unravel because you close your eyes.

The night is not a test of your worthiness. It is an invitation to trust that you are loved even when you are unconscious.
