The Case Is Already Closed
The sun has gone down, and the house is quiet enough to hear the argument you are still fighting in your head. You are rehearsing the defense you gave when you should have been offering the apology you owed.
Night after night, you play the tape, sharpening your words, proving your point, winning a case that no one else is prosecuting. But the light does not need your verdict.
It saw you before you spoke, and it knows why you were afraid to soften. There was a woman caught in the act, surrounded by accusers ready to stone her, and the light bent down to write in the dust until the crowd dispersed.
When He stood up, He asked where her condemners were. They were gone.
And He said the words you are waiting to hear yourself: 'Then neither do I condemn you.' The defense was unnecessary. The accusers had already left.
You can put the script down now. The case is closed, not because you won it, but because the only One who matters has already dismissed it.
