Safe in the Silence Before You Answer
The screen lights up in the dim room, and your stomach drops before you even read the name. You know that opening this message will unravel the careful composure you have held together all day.
The light does not demand you speak right now. It does not require you to be strong enough to answer.
There is a space between the vibration of the phone and your response where you are allowed to simply breathe. You do not have to carry the weight of their expectation tonight.
The one who knows your name is not the one calling from the screen. That voice is quieter.
It is the one that says: do not weep and do not be irresolute, for grace is entirely with you and will protect you. You are safe in this silence.
The unraveling is not the end; it is just the truth asking to be seen.
