the hollow ache in your chest after hanging up, staring at the black screen while rehearsing how you'll explain your absence tomorrow

He Runs Before You Speak

The screen is black now, and the silence it leaves behind is louder than the conversation ever was. You are rehearsing the explanation for tomorrow, building a bridge of words to cross the gap between how you feel and what they will accept.

But in this hour, the light does not ask for your performance. It sits with you in the hollow ache, knowing that the mask you wear for the world is too heavy to carry right now.

There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — not after the speech was perfected, but while the words were still stuck in his throat. He ran.

Before the apology, before the excuse, before the shame could finish its sentence — he ran. The light is already running toward you, not to hear your explanation, but to hold the part of you that is too tired to speak.

You do not have to fix the morning tonight. The dawn will come whether you have your answers ready or not.

The only truth that matters in this dark is that you are held, even when your voice fails.
