You Exist Without Their Reply
The screen glows in the dark, and your thumb hovers over the name you promised yourself you wouldn't type tonight. You want to send a message just to prove you still exist to them, to force a reaction that confirms you haven't been erased.
But the light that lives inside you does not need their reply to be real. Jesus saw Nathanael under the fig tree before he was even called; he sees you in this room, in this hesitation, and he knows you entirely.
What you are trying to prove has already been seen. When Mary finished speaking the truth she had received, she fell silent, because the truth did not need to be chased or justified to be valid.
You are not defined by whether they answer. You are defined by the light that refuses to go out, even in this silence.
The gathering dark is not a verdict on your worth; it is simply the space where you learn to exist without their permission.
