the shame of having to leave a room mid-conversation because your body betrayed you

The Light Ran Before You Could Explain

The room was warm, the conversation was flowing, and then your body pulled the emergency cord. You had to leave.

Mid-sentence. Mid-laugh.

You slipped out while everyone else was still seated, carrying the heavy, silent shame of being the one who couldn't stay. Tonight, the house is quiet enough to hear that moment replaying in your head.

The accusation that you are too much trouble, too broken, too unreliable to be part of the circle. But listen.

There is a father who watched his son coming home from a long way off. He did not wait for the apology.

He did not wait for the speech. He ran.

Before you could even explain why you left, the light was already moving toward you. It does not require you to finish the conversation to be loved.

It does not require you to hold it together to be held. The light knows the exact moment your strength gave out, and it was not disappointed.

It was waiting. You are not defined by the door you walked out of.

You are defined by the arms that are open when you arrive.
