The Name You Heard Was Yours
The room is loud, a blur of voices that do not know you. Someone calls a name, and you feel certain it belongs to someone else—someone whole, someone worthy, someone who isn't carrying what you are carrying.
You stay seated. You keep your head down.
You let the moment pass because surely the light is calling the version of you that doesn't exist anymore. But listen.
The voice that spoke creation into being does not mistake its own. It is not calling a stranger.
It is calling you. The name you heard was yours all along.
The father saw you while you were still a long way off and ran before you could even finish your apology. You do not have to make yourself presentable first.
You do not have to earn the right to turn around. The call itself is the proof that you belong.
The silence breaks not because you shouted, but because you finally let yourself be known.
