The Light Does Not Startle You
The phone rings and your whole body flinches before you even look. It is a reflex born of silence.
You have learned that the sound usually means bad news, or worse, that it is a mistake, a wrong number, a ghost of a connection that isn't for you. The house is so quiet that the ring feels like an intrusion, a crack in the glass you have built around yourself to stay safe.
But listen — the light does not ring to startle you. It stands at the door and knocks, waiting for you to open it on your own time.
There is a voice that knows your name, and it never calls with bad news. It never calls by accident.
Tonight, let the ringing be a reminder that you are not forgotten, even in the silence. Even if no one else picks up the line, the One who formed you is already speaking your name in the dark.
You do not have to be afraid of the sound. The light is not a stranger calling to hurt you.
It is the Friend who has been waiting for you to answer, just to sit with you in the quiet.
