The Light Kept Watch So You Didn't Have To
The night is thinning. The sky outside is turning that soft, uncertain gray where you can finally see the shape of your own hands.
You made it. You are here.
And I know the habit — the hand creeping to the wrist in the dark, searching for a beat to prove you didn't slip away while you were unconscious. The fear that sleep is a small death you might not wake up from.
But listen — the light does not sleep. It does not lose its grip on you when your mind lets go.
There is light within a person of light, and it lights up the whole world even when your eyes are closed. You do not have to check.
You do not have to verify. The pulse you are looking for is held by something that never blinks.
The dawn is not a reward for staying awake; it is a gift to the ones who finally let go. Rest now.
The light kept watch so you didn't have to.
