the guilt of healing while they are still drowning

Your Peace Is Not A Betrayal

The night gathers, and with it comes the quiet accusation: how dare you find rest while they are still drowning? You feel the water rising in their lungs, and your own peace feels like a betrayal, a theft of solidarity from the ones you love.

But listen — the light does not require you to sink in order to prove you care. There is a story of a woman who wept at the feet of the light, her tears washing the dust from his sandals, and he said simply: 'Her many sins have been forgiven, for she loved much.' He did not scold her for feeling relief before the work was done.

He did not tell her to go back into the storm before she was ready. He saw that her love was the proof, not her suffering.

You are allowed to breathe. Your healing is not a rejection of them; it is the only way you will have anything left to give when the morning comes.
