lying awake replaying a small kindness you received hours earlier, convinced the person who gave it will soon realize they made a mistake and feel foolish for praising you

The Kindness Was Not A Mistake

The morning light is already filtering through the blinds, and you are still lying there, rehearsing the moment someone was kind to you. You twist their words in your mind until they sound like a mistake, a slip of the tongue they will soon regret.

You are convinced that when they see you clearly, they will feel foolish for having praised you at all. But listen — the light does not make errors in judgment.

When Jesus stood before the woman caught in shame, he did not condemn her, and he did not retract his mercy when the crowd left. He told her to go and live differently, not because she had earned it, but because the kindness was real.

What was given to you was not a loan you have to pay back with perfection. It was a reflection of the light that lives inside you, recognized by the light that lives inside them.

The kingdom is already within you, even if you cannot feel it yet. The person who saw you did not see a fraud; they saw the truth that you are too tired to recognize right now.

Stop waiting for the other shoe to drop. The shoe is not coming.

The kindness was not a mistake. It was a mirror.
