the terrifying suspicion that your presence is a burden to everyone you love

The Light Sees You As Home

The morning light hits the window and you put on the face that says you are fine. You walk into the room and you are already calculating the weight of your presence.

You wonder if your silence is heavy, if your needs are too much, if everyone you love is just waiting for you to leave so they can breathe. This is the mask: performing okayness while inside you are convinced you are a burden.

But there was a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years, lying beside a pool, certain that his existence was a problem no one could solve. He believed he was too broken to be helped, too heavy to be lifted.

And the light walked straight to him—not to the worthy, not to the light-hearted, but to the one who had given up. It did not ask him to fix himself first.

It did not ask him to apologize for taking up space. It simply said: get up.

The light does not see your presence as a burden. It sees it as the very place it wants to dwell.

You are not draining the people who love you. You are giving them the chance to carry what the light has already chosen to hold.
