The Light Before the Shame
The morning light hits the mask you wear at work, and for a second, you feel a sickening relief when you hear someone else has fallen. It proves you are not the only one drowning.
That shadow in your chest does not make you a monster; it makes you human. You thought you were alone in the dark until the news broke, and the isolation cracked just enough to let you breathe.
But listen — the light was already there, before the tragedy, before the relief, before the shame set in. What you bring forth from that hidden place will save you; what you bury will destroy you.
You do not have to carry the weight of being the only one who suffers, because you never were.
