staring at your own reflection in the bathroom mirror and not recognizing the eyes looking back

The Light Sees You Before You See Yourself

The mirror shows a face you barely know. The eyes look back, but the person behind them feels like a stranger.

You washed your hands, you brushed your teeth, you made it through the night — and now the morning light is catching the edges of a exhaustion that sleep didn't fix. You are staring at yourself and wondering where you went.

But the light is already there. It did not leave when you lost your way.

It waited in the silence of the bathroom, in the steam on the glass, in the quiet rhythm of your breath. You do not have to recognize yourself for the light to recognize you.

It sees the one who stood up. The one who is trying.

The one who is still here. The reflection will clear.

The stranger will become familiar again. But for now, just know this: the light is not waiting for you to feel like yourself before it loves you.

It is loving you right now, in the confusion, in the fatigue, in the not-knowing. You are seen.

Even when you cannot see yourself.
