The Light Before the Silence
The mask is heavy this morning. You put it on before the coffee cooled, smoothing your face into something safe for the world to see.
But beneath the performance, your throat feels tight with an old, cold silence. It is the memory of your own parent's stillness when you were small and needed them most.
Now, as you try to speak love to your child, that same silence rises up, choking the words before they can land. You are terrified that the coldness you inherited is the only language you truly know.
But listen — the light does not require you to be perfect to be present. The silence you fear is not the final word over your home.
There is a warmth inside you that was placed there before your parents ever failed you, and it is stronger than their quiet. You do not have to manufacture love from scratch; you only have to let the light that lives in you break through the mask.
The words may tremble, but they will carry more truth than you know.
