the secret wish that the person you care for would finally die so you could sleep

The Light Is Not Shocked By Darkness

The mask is heavy this morning, especially when the secret thought arrives: I wish they would just die so I could finally sleep. That thought does not make you a monster; it makes you exhausted.

You are performing okayness while your soul is screaming for rest. But listen — the light inside you is not shocked by this darkness.

It does not turn away from the weariness that births such a wish. The light sees the caregiver behind the smile and offers not judgment, but a hand on your shoulder.

You are not your worst thought. You are the light that persists even when you are running on empty.

The wish for the night to end is just the exhaustion talking, not the truth of who you are.
