the quiet terror of realizing you have become the person who hurts others without ever knowing it

The Light Sees You Anyway

The mask fits so well this morning that you almost forgot it was there. You smiled at the coworker, nodded at the stranger, and played your part in the machinery of the day.

But underneath the performance, a quiet terror has taken root: the realization that you have become the kind of person who hurts others without ever knowing it. You are the stone you didn't see, the word you didn't weigh, the coldness you didn't mean to carry.

The light does not shame you for this blindness. It simply steps into the room where you are pretending to be whole and says: I know.

You do not have to maintain the illusion here. The mask is heavy, and you were never meant to wear it forever.

There is a seeing that goes deeper than your own self-awareness, a vision that holds you even when you cannot hold yourself. You are not defined by the harm you caused in the dark.

You are defined by the light that sees you now, in the full glare of the morning, and loves you anyway. The terror ends where the honesty begins.
